Hi all

I just joined here as I need to lose my baby flab now that my baby has decided she no longer wants to be breastfed. I now have no excuse for my jelly belly or the 6 pounds I've put on since Christmas.

I'm not actually doing anything about it yet, & I may even have lost some weight recently as my clothes are loser.

I need a bit more moral support - I have been going to a friends house to be weighed every 2 weeks - she is raising money for an adoption charity by walking along the great wall of china so instead ofpaying weight watchers we are paying her. Anyways I digress.... first 2 weeks I didn;t make much effort and stayed the same weight, next 2 weeks I made a real effort and lost 1lb, 3rd 2 weeks I gave up making an effort again and stayed the same weight!

I keep thinking just what is the point? I am exercising 3 times a week, I was just swimming but I am now adding a few minutes on a bike and x-trainer before the swim once or twice a week - and I have started aqua aerobics once a week too. The problem with this is though my hips are now very painful as my arthritus is complaining about the exercise, and I had to use my crutches to help out at my daughters rainbow meeting tonight.

I have cut down on chocolate and crisps - but my diet will never be brilliant as I am a fussy eater. I am making more meals from scratch though and cutting down on processed food. I am trying to drink more water as the scales measure body fat and water content and when water goes up fat goes down - we are all almost classed as obese on the scales. I am finding though I can only do this if I neglect work and dedicate more time to shopping and cooking and thinking ahead.

Anyway - I need some encouragement and peer pressure here - so come on folks get back to the healthy eating and help me out!

Subject:Update time
Time:12:48 pm
I think it's time for me to update here. When I went on vacation in July (and for the next month after) I had gained back 10 lbs of what I had lost since the beginning of the year. I haven't gained any more since, but I've only lost .5 lb of it. Net summer gain = 9.5 lb.

I had lapsed back into some of my lazy habits of eating pre-packaged food all the time and not going out to exercise except for my dance class.

No more.

Since last week, I've started getting back to the gym two or three times per week in addition to dance. I've also made myself start cooking again so that I have real food to eat instead of convenience food. Have I mentioned how much I hate to cook? Anyway, if I plan the menus on the weekend and buy the fixings then, it's easier to stick with the plan.

I hope everyone else has fared better recently. I'm hoping to get back to my main goal (below my admitted driver's license weight) before the end of the year. That would be 3.5 lbs - the other 6 were over my goal for the year, and while it would be good to get back to my low for the year, I would still be happy just meeting my goal.

Best wishes to everyone who is still working on getting healthier!

Hi gang. I'm giving this weight-loss thing yet another shot.

I took my lunch to work: green salad with grape tomatoes. Fruit. Water. And when I got home, I walked two miles on a whim. I had to take something to spouse at work; it's a mile walk there and back. It was light out and not too hot, although I was glowing fairly well by the time I got home. Still, the balls of my feet are protesting -- I wasn't wearing proper walking shoes and I may have rubbed a blister in them.

Note to self: Next time, put the Nikes on.

My alarm went off at 6. I contemplated rolling ontop of my husband, but as I rolled over and opened my eyes, my 3 year old daughter was there looking at me with a smirk. "good morning mommy!" she chirps.

I go to the gym. Much less entertaining.

BUT! I logged 1.75 miles on the jog . yayayayayayay! The last quarter mile I was definately tired, but refused to quit mid lap. I finished the lap at 30 seconds left on the timer, so I just kept running till it beeped and went into walk mode.

Stretches and situps blah blah blah.

1.75 miles though! whoohooo!

Ok, not at 6am as planned, but what's 4 hours give or take...

Actually decided to run today, though I dislike running on treadmills. Of the 2 miles I clock on the treadmill, I thought OK, I'll start out running 1/2 mile on then walking the rest. (It's been some time since I ran and I'm not in running condition) After a bit I think, wonder how far I've gone, Look at distance, .55. OK then! We'll go to .75 miles then walk. Really I probably could have done a full mile with no effort, but I decided not to kill myself, I do want to walk tomorrow. Walked the rest, did the standard situps, stretches and then added deep knee lunges, hamstring, quads, abductor and adductor weights. Rest assured, I will feel this and hate myself tomorrow.

Noshed a powerbar chugged some water and hit the showers.

Yay Me.

So yesterday I busted my a** in the gardens. About 5 solid hours of weeding, hoeing, yanking plants, pruning etc. Say ouch. Fortunately one of my collegues and I had worked out a trade and I got a massage yesterday afternoon. Probably the sole reason I"m moving today. :)

Today! I got up and what's this? RAIN??!! Actual rain, not the typical misty hey maybe the streets will look damp rain, but the real thing. So instead of my run down the creek path, I went to the gym and ran. We'll walked quickly. :) I don't like running on tredmills. So I walked at 4.2 MPH on a grade 1 incline. Then the standard situps, lunges (my legs and butt will hate me later) and some arm weights.

YAY ME!

Of course since my actual weight still does not match the weight listed on my DL, I've still got some work to do. And with all the walking being planned for Ireland, I REALLY need to get in better shape. Must increase physical activity....

After far to long being lazy, I've enlisted husband to help. We alternate days, kicking each other out of bed. I've got 6 weeks to get in shape so I can survive Ireland. :)

Today, 30 minute power walk through the hills around my neighborhood. Stretches.

Ate Breakfast hey, major accompblishment for me. I had a banana (yuk, I hate bananas) and a bowl of Cherios along with my cup of tea. On my second bottle of water now.

Help Nag me people!

My family joined our local gym on Saturday. It turns out that we get a $20/mo discount on our family membership once we complete the nutrition, fitness and equipment demo classes and do the body fat/fitness analysis. Good deal since the classes are free. I worked out there on Saturday and again today.

I really like it - they give you a towel and a locker key when you arrive and there is water and iced tea there for the taking if you forget your water bottle. I haven't tried any of the aerobics classes yet, but I have luxuriated in the hot tub in the women's locker room. They even provide shaving cream in the showers and hair dryers in the vanity areas. (Can you tell it's been a long time since I've been in a gym and I'm impressed?) The thing I like best about this place is that there is no constant boom of too-loud music and there is no feel of a "meat market" anywhere around the place. Yay!

My only complaint is that the scale (medical, balance type) is about a pound off. It got my hopes up on Saturday. I trust the one at my office - it matches the scales at both of my Dr.'s offices.

At this point, I have just under 18 pounds to go before I reach this year's goal.

God it feels good to be back at the gym. I took two weeks off and I'm regretting it. The first week I took off becuase I was getting ready for my trip to St. Louis, then the week after that I was exhausted and sick from the flight. (I always get sick after I fly)

So now I'm back, still tired, but getting back up to steam.
